IES San Francisco is offering a 9-week Fundamentals of Lighting course again this year.  This course will meet on Wednesday evenings, 6-9 PM, at PG&E's Pacific Energy Center, beginning September 18, 2019.  We cover major topics in lighting, and provide an overview of light including:

  • Lighting terms and physics of light

  • Vision, and light and health

  • Light sources, fixtures, controls

  • Lighting metrics and photometry

  • Codes, standards, economics

  • Daylighting, sustainability

  • Lighting design process and techniques

  • Interior and exterior applications

This class is a great intro into lighting for anyone entering the lighting fields, including designers, sales people, energy specialists, contractors and specifiers, or for anyone eager for technical lighting knowledge. The Pacific Energy Center is again hosting us in the Lighting Classroom, where we can demo many lighting products and techniques, and can show examples of lighting characteristics such as color and properties of light.
