IES San Francisco is offering a 9-week Fundamentals of Lighting course again this year.  This course will meet on Wednesday evenings, 6-9 PM, at PG&E's Pacific Energy Center, beginning September 20, 2017.  We cover major topics in lighting, including:

An overview of light and vision, physics of light, and light and health including

  • Light sources, fixtures, controls
  • Lighting metrics and photometry
  • Codes, standards, economics
  • Daylighting, sustainability
  •  Lighting design process and techniques
  • Interior and exterior applications

This class is a great intro into lighting for anyone entering the lighting fields, including designers, sales people, contractors and specifiers, or for anyone eager for technical lighting knowledge.  The Pacific Energy Center is again providing the Lighting Classroom which we gratefully use to demo many products and techniques, and use to show examples of lighting characteristics such as color and properties of light.
