The Innovators Evening Lecture Series is intended to provide networking opportunities and create a forum where interested members of the energy efficiency community can have access to innovators in the industry who are transforming the marketplace. These monthly, conversational presentations are intended to discuss “big picture” opportunities for change from the speakers own viewpoint and encourage an exchange of new ideas.

For the 2nd lecture in the series, Charlie Huizenga with Acuity Brands and Chris Humann with Terrestrial Light will share their perspectives on changing the controls marketplace.  Charlie will discuss how he has taken a new technological concept from an idea to R&D to startup to scaled deployment.  Chris will discuss how local weather and sky condition measurements and predictions can be processed for instructing a buildings automated systems to proactively respond and adapt to the micro-climatic stimulus of its environment; providing energy optimization of controls, as well as cost savings, and will share his thoughts about this approach to building automation controls and how it can improve occupant comfort and productivity. As an avid Sailor, Chris will lead us through a discussion about the sky around us, how to "sail" our buildings, measuring the sky, using the skyometer, the virtual sensor, and forecasting and plotting a course using the bigger picture.
