Its not just about the lamps.  This class considers the appropriate use of lighting fixtures that can result in additional energy savings and the reduction of connected loads.  Attendees learn how to locate and interpret spec sheets that contain essential technical information about luminaires.  Gonio photometry is explained, leading to a discussion of spherical coordinate systems and the introduction of additional lighting metrics including candelas, luminance, optical efficiency, spacing criteria and classification systems like IES Roadway and NEMA Floodlight Types, BUG and IP Ratings.

Most luminaires are developed for specific applications.  The class reviews many luminaire types and considers best practices for how they are applied to new construction and retrofit projects.
